Homecomin' is a Table Service restaurant located in Disney Springs. You can get to Disney Springs by taking a Disney bus from any park or Disney resort. If you are staying at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter and Riverside, Saratoga Springs or Disney's Old Key West you can access Disney Springs by taking the Sassagoula River Boat from your resort dock. The boats won't run in inclement weather so be sure to always have a backup transport option. Disney Springs also has multiple multi-storey parking lots if you are travelling by car.
Homecomin' is located in The Landing section of Disney Springs opposite Morimoto Asia and STK Orlando. They serve brunch, lunch and dinner and is around $15-40 per person plus sales tax. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, Homecomin' is one Table Service credit.
When I went to Homecomin' it was a very rainy day, so be sure to check you have an umbrella or a poncho because there is only a teeny bit of dry space under the entrance of Homecomin'. For those of you who, like me, are coming from the UK and don't use your phone out of flight mode, be sure to make this clear when you check in. Homecomin' uses a text reminder service so let you know when your table is ready, so as we couldn't use that service, we had to wait. You can't wait inside, so we all huddled under the small section of cover. We did have to wait quite a while once we had checked in for your reservation, which is completely understandable. We were then called inside where we had to wait another few moments.
We were almost instantly greeted by a manager who apologised personally for how long we had to wait, and that we had waited outside in the rain. She then personally took us to our table, checked any allergies, asked a bit about our trip and was generally extremely pleasant.
The interior of the restaurant is so nicely decorated and it has such a nice atmosphere. We were shown through the restaurant and out to the covered terrace outside. We had a large table in the corner looking right out of the water.
There is a small amount of netting around the terrace to stop any bugs as it open on the sides. It was an absolutely beautiful view and was even nicer as the sun set. The manager seated us, said she would be sure to check in on us later on in the evening and introduced us to our server.
Our server was equally as amazing as the manager. She took note of an allergy at our table, pointed out what they could have on the normal menu before giving the allergy menu and handed all the normal menus out.
The menu has a ton of great options and I knew exactly what I was having straight away. Our server explained that we can substitute any of the sides for another which was music to my ears because I had heard amazing things about their mac and cheese!
Out of all the restaurants we had gone to on this trip, we were unsure on Homecomin'. At this point it was fairly new and the reviews seemed to be pretty mixed, so we had no idea what to expect. We ended coming out saying that it was our favourite restaurant we had been to on this trip.
Our server took our drinks order and brought drinks out before taking our food order. The food didn't take a huge amount of time to come considering the restaurant appeared to be full. The chef's were amazing in ensuring the allergies are catered to.
I ordered the chicken and doughnuts and substituted the side for the mac and cheese. This was a huge portion and the picture doesn't do it justice - I couldn't even finish it, and I hardly ever leave food! The chicken was on the bone but was cooked to perfection. Both pieces were juicy and incredibly easy to cut up. The doughnuts came with a maple syrup which tasted fresh and not out of a bottle. They complemented the savoury chicken really well and were nice and crispy. The mac and cheese was something else entirely. It was creamy, had a layer of crunchy cheese on top and was massive. I could see exactly how people rave about this mac and cheese; it was probably the best I had ever had!
The manager came back around to check everything was OK with our meals and our server also checked in a few times whilst taking refills for drinks.
Then came dessert. I was already extremely full and almost passed on dessert but I am so happy I didn't. I ordered the chocolate fudge cake and this cake was bigger than my head; I did not expect it. Others on my table had the key lime pie and it was equally as large.
It was at this point that the manager came back over. She stayed chatting to us for about 30 mins as she was heading to London for a trip and was asking about places to go, telling us about living in Florida and was just so genuinely interested in us. She was so friendly, helpful and between her and our server, absolutely made our experience.
Overall, I 100% recommend going to Homecomin'. The service is fantastic, the food is delicious and the location is even better. If you can ask to sit outside, do it. The view over the springs at sunset was beautiful. We will be going back to Homecomin' on our next trip without a doubt.
