We are just over a week into lockdown and I am approximately 48 hours away from completely losing the plot. Because of this, I decided to do a little mini series documenting my imaginary Disney vacation, including photos from my 2018 trip and all the things I wish I could be doing other than sitting on my sofa binge watching Hannah Montana on Disney+. Yes, all 98 episodes of it.
So, without further ado, here is pre-travel day!
I've got my case packed, complete with years old Mickey sticker, Monsters University Spirit Jersey and large Buzz Lightyear backpack. No trip to Disney is complete without copious amounts of additional Disney to wear. You always want everything to scream "YES, I AM GOING TO DISNEY".
Money doesn't exist in Imaginary Land, so I am getting a private taxi from my house all the way to Gatwick airport. I take direction from my mum and bring a bottle of wine for the trip because that is absolutely what normal people do on their way to the airport. I also do my normal thing and bring enough taxi snacks to feed a family of six but eat them all to myself. Calories don't exist in Imaginary Land.
In normal pre-travel day style, I am staying at the Bloc Hotel. Partially because it's really cool and partially because I am lazy and requires minimal effort from me to get to the plane.
I've arrived at the airport after flying down the motorway (flying would have been a better idea, dammit) because in Imaginary Land there is no traffic. Ever. I head straight over to Twilight Check In because no one wants to get up any earlier than needed to stand in a line full of equally tired people with screaming kids.
Now to get the monorail (official first ride of the trip, I don't care what you say) back over to the North terminal to check in for the night.
I head over to the Bloc and check in with no trouble because even in real life there is never any queue. By some sort of magic, I get the same room I stayed in back in 2018, who'd have thought?!
I spend some time chilling in the room and enjoying the fact that I can control everything, blinds included, from an iPad built into the wall. Pretty cool if you ask me. I also sit on the little weird fake seat by the window that was definitely added there to fill a strange gap but no normal person would sit there and watch the planes. I am a plane nerd and could watch them all day...a reason why I am the coolest person in the world. The view from the window looks out onto the North terminal with a pretty good view of some of the gates.
Then I head over to the Spoons around the corner from the Bloc for dinner because everyone likes a Spoons and it's cheap because even in Imaginary Land I have no money. I order my food from the app because I still want to avoid as much unnecessary human interaction as possible. I get encouraged by my bad influence friends to share my table number because people are still amused by the fact they can send things to your table. This is a big mistake and multiple weird drinks show up. 10/10 friendship level. I chill for a little while longer, post some random crap on Twitter and Instagram because in Imaginary Land I'm still not popular, then head back.
I get comfy in the somewhat strange bed surrounded by velvet that has been vacuumed into a terribly uneven zebra pattern. There are also a lot of towels for just me and if I wasn't such a good person I would endeavour to use them all. I don't, I use one because look after the planet, save the turtles.
I spend some time watching crappy evening tv but give up because, let's face it, it's all soaps and I would rather scoop my eyes out with a spoon. I have to say, this bed is very comfy and I absolutely wish I could magic it back to my house. Not possible even in Imaginary Land.
After mindlessly scrolling through Tik Tok for an hour (this is only possible in Imaginary Land), I get ready for bed. I put the blinds down with the built in iPad - still cool, doesn't get old - and settle in for the night.
It's around 21:30, and yes, that is past my bedtime. I am old and still need my beauty sleep. I'm definitely going to dream of Mickey Mouse and my imaginary really hot boyfriend that loves Disney.
Let's go to Disney! Goodnight!
