Walt Disney World has two Rainforest Cafe locations; one at Animal Kingdom and one at Disney Springs. My favourite location is by far the Animal Kingdom location. It fits in perfectly with the theming of Animal Kingdom, and it also has its own secret entrance into the park!
The Animal Kingdom Rainforest Cafe is just past bag check as you go into the park. You also don't have to be dining there to use the top secret entrance! Head through the shop and through the double doors at the back. There are a few bits of Rainforest Cafe theming, including and elephant fountain I always have to touch, and your own secret entrance in to the park.
The Rainforest Cafe is a table service restaurant and , if you are on the Disney Dining Plan, is 1 table service credit. Meals work out around $30 per person plus sales tax. The menu is incredibly varied, so you should find something for everyone! They also have an allergy menu and the chef will visit your table to take any questions and explain anything for you.
The restaurant itself is a pretty standard Rainforest Cafe, decked out in full rainforest vegetation and sprinkled with animatronic animals. If you are lucky, you might even catch the odd thunderstorm!
You check in at the front of the restaurant where your safari party will be called. Each table, no matter where you are sat, has a different view. This time, we were sat by the fish tank!
The table is quite near the entrance and exit of the restaurant, but is tucked nicely in the corner so you don't have anyone walk directly past your table. The only downside to the Rainforest Cafe is that is can be quite noisy, so if you want a quiet dining experience, this one may not be for you!
The menu, as I mentioned before, is very varied meaning everyone can find something they like. The allergy menu contains allergy friendly meals that are on the standard menu, but also a few additional dishes such as a gluten-free seafood pasta.
I went for the parmesan chicken, which is not for the faint hearted! This is TWO very large breaded chicken breasts topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella. It also comes with a large portion of spaghetti in marinara sauce with shaved parmesan and a chunk of garlic ciabatta.
I am one of those people who won't waste food, so I do eat all of it and I am not sorry about it. It is a really good meal and a great portion for the cost of $23.
The dessert menu is pretty standard. I recommend the cheesecake which comes with a berry coulis and is so nice and creamy. However, if you have more than one person in your party and you don't mind sharing a dessert, there is only one thing I can recommend for you.
This is the Volcano. Several very large slices of fudge cake, four scoops of vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel sauce and a sparkly thing to top it off. This is seriously good. You can always tell when someone orders one of these because you will suddenly here a chorus of "volcaaaano" from the servers.
On the Disney Dining Plan, two of you can share one of these for no additional cost. Worth every penny!
Overall, I 100% recommend Rainforest Cafe. It is good fun for families and those travelling without kids. The atmosphere is great and the food is really good quality. The Animal Kingdom location is great for a break from the midday sun and for something a little bit different!
